A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Lars Ulrich joined Metallica in October of 1983 shortly after its formation. He was appointed bassist following the departure of Jason Newsted. Lars has served as Metallica's chief architect on every album since the release of "Kill 'Em All" (1983). He is also recognized as one of the most influential and recognizable musicians in the world.
